Here is the basics for taming a pet. The spell "Curb beast" is the spell that you use to tame a combat pet. Not all animals in the game are tameable, but only aninmals are tamable, such as you can not tame humanoid mobs. Some potential tames are more difficult than others. There are a few tricks that you can use to assist in this. First you cant have a pet currently equipped when taming a new pet. Use the spell "Send Beast Away" to dismiss your current pet. If you cast the spell "Shardcrest Snare" before you cast Curb Beast this buys you some time during the taming process where you arent taking damage. Shardcrest Snare is an ice trap that holds a pet still for a time, and if used during a tame it can make things a little easier. Another method is casting "Pitscamp Swiper" before you tame. This is a spell that fears a beast and sends it running around. If you use this before casting Curb beast it also can buy you some time. It helps a bit if this is done in a semi-enclosed area since the pet has the potential to run out of your curb range. These are just a few basic methods of taming a combat pet in WoM.

Basically attuning your Homestone changes the location to where your Homestone ports you. The first real Hub outside of the beginner area is Sand City. Sand City has all of the ammenities, such as class trainers, Chest keepers, Guild creation, Mount vendors, etc.. So it is a perfect location to set your Home stone to once you come to this point. To attune your Homestone click on the big green crystal and you will be given a screen option to change your Homestones location to this point. If you have somehow lost your Homestone during your travels you can pick up a new one here as well.
Below is a list of important slash commands. Please note that this is not a full list of all of the slash commands in the game, just some beginner ones for a new player to know.
/dnd this one is basically a do not disturb. For instance type /dnd busy and anyone messaging you will get the word busy sent to them. /pr <character name> promotes to group leader /roundrobin each player takes a turn getting loot /pvp flags you for pvp /yield cancels a duel .dismount takes you off of your mount /i <character name> invites a targeted character, or another way /invite <name> /ffa no rolling for loot /f follow targeted player /roll roll 1-100 /g guild chat /p team chat /y yell /s say /say <text> is a local channel and can only be heard by others nearby. /gf <text> or "group finder" is a global channel and can be heard in other zones. /Zone <text> can only be heard in your zone...as in only in the desert zone, or only in the start area zone. /Market <text> is a global channel and can be heard in other zones . /g <text> is a guild chat, and can be heard by other members of your guild. /w <playername> <text> will whisper to another player.. it will show up to you as <yourname>:World: <text> and to them as <yourname>:Whisper: <text> /invite <playername> invites someone to join your party. /p <text> talks only to the other members of your party. By talking in the party channel, it is automatically set as your default channel. /leave leaves a party. /leave <channelname> leaves a channel. /join <channelname> both creates a channel and sets it as your "default" channel.. example type /join z and now when you type in chat, it will show you talking in the "z" channel by default. To set your default to the local channel "Say" you must type /say (all lowercase). It does not work the reverse way. You cannot type /Market or /z or /join z(again) and switch to one of those channels as your default.. it is a one way road. This function is especially useful for groups who want to stay off the main channels. -I'll leave this as a work in progress so that I can add more as I come across them. Here are a few usefull links that may help when needing to look something up about Midgard Rising. Knowledge is what seperates the noobs from the pros.
http://www.youtube.com/user/worldofmidgard youtube is pretty much a staple these days. The game intro displays this one. vids.worldofmidgard.com The forums may be the best source because you can ask questions from people who currently play the game. http://worldofmidgard.com/womforum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=3960 At level 19 the skill Dual wield becomes available at the Ranger trainer. It costs 2,230 gold. This skill is great dps boost if you tend to melee fight. You can use one handed axes, daggers, or a claw. You will out dps your pet, so if you want your pet to hold agro let your pet take away around 100hp from a mob before you have your ranger join in.
Ever been confusedwith the subtle differences between spells? Here is one tip that may help with bringing your Combat pet along with you. The spells Hail Beast, Follow, and Escort all seem fairly similiar in the fact that when you use them your pet tends to follow you around. Well there are some key differences between them.
Hail Beast: This summons a pet that you have already tamed to you. Sometimes a pet may be "caught or stuck" at a transition point, etc.. and using Hail Beast instantly brings your pet to your side. Follow: Your pet follows along beside you and only attacks whatever you attack. Escort: Your pet follows along beside you, but this time your pet will automatically attack anything that attacks you. |
