If you find that leveling up on your main character is just dragging on and on then you have one option open to you...if you have the mithril. In most cities and towns across WoM you will find XP booster vendors. These vendors sell three different XP boosters that incrementily give higher amounts of XP.
Have you read the Lorebook? It details the origins of the Fury and the Alliance. It shows the long history of the races and how they came to be what they are now. It outlines how the lands came to be so divided. It also goes as far to show the horrible beginnings of the common enemy, the Swarm. If you havent read the Lorebook, now is the time.
In WoM portals are your gates from point A to point B. They always have the redish fire look as seen in the picture. They may take you from one zone to another, or perhaps are the gateway to a dungeon. Almost always you can travel back and forth through a portal. So if you come across one, go ahead and see what awaits you on the other side.
In the major towns and cities of WoM you will come across a dwarf with "Gold [buy diamond & sell to merchant]" highlighted above his head. This dwarf will sell you diamonds that you purchase with mithril. The diamonds have three categories of rarity and worth. The diamonds are to be sold to a merchant for gold. This can be really usefull if you have an alt character that you used a instant level up on. This could give the $$ to initially equip your alt with spells and such. Below is a small slideshow showing the dwarf and some of his diamonds. Typically when I tame a new combat pet I check to see what family it falls under. What the differences are between these pet families remains a mystery at this point in beta, but as I gain more information I'll update this posting because it has my curiosity peaked. I have a few ideas though, I think there may be a correlation between pet families and the type of attack or damage it does. For instance, The skill Destruction reads: % boosted pet damage for x seconds after critical blow done with Tear, Fang, or Strike. So perhaps Tear, Fang or Strike has a part to play. Another idea is that the food your pet will eat is tied into the pet families. Perhaps there are pet stats that we cant check yet such as speed, armour, etc.. that are affected by what family the pet falls under. So far here are the Pet Families that I have found:
-Wolf -Scorpid -Spider -Crocolisk -Raptor -Heyena -Cat -Arachne -Canine -Crocodile -Scorpion If your like me, you may be wondering where do I go in the game? There isn't a world map yet, just the individual zone and dungeon maps, so planning your way through WoM may be a bit confusing at first. Initially you will start in the beginner zone, and stay till around level 10 or so and then cross a bridge in the north that leads to the desert. The Desert is the 2nd area that you will be in from level 10-18 or so. The Desert has one main road that runs north/south, follow it directly north and you will come to the gate lets you into Sand City. In Sand City there are four gates, east, west, north, south. You may want to set your homestone to Sand City for now so that you can explore all of the gates without worrying about getting lost. From Sand City the next area is through one of the gates that leads to the Jungle. I believe the Jungle can be entered around level 14 or so. After the Jungle comes the Tundra, you can enter the tundra through the gate located at the northern pyramid in the northern part of of the Jungle map or through a gate at Sand City. If I remember correctly, the Tundra should get you to about level 28-30. The Tundra is the fourth and final "normal" zone. So, your probably wondering how do you get to level 60 if the Tundra is the last "normal" zone, well now you have to speed up to 80 mph, check the flex capaciter and travel back to the future. Just kidding, but there is something called the "Timeline". In the picture to the left you will see the Timeline switcher. Speak to the Timeline Switcher and accept the quest, but dont turn it in yet. If the question mark above his head is yellow then you are in the Timeline. In the Timeline you can then backtrack through all of the zones and there will be new quests and mobs but of higher levels than before. If you don't want to experience the same scenery again then you can purchase Adventure Zones for 499 mithril and up, basically $5-10 each. The first adventure zone beginns at level 28. There are several adventure zones available all the way up to level 60, and there are adventure zone vendors in all of the major towns. You cant use an adventure zone until you reach the specified level that is required for it. Lets take the level 28 zone. So you purchase the zone called Bad Domain that begins at level 28. You will see the icon for the zone in your backpack. Go to the items tab in your inventory and place the icon onto a empty slot on your hotbar. The zones work just like your homestone, each zone icon takes you directly to that zone. So once you have the icon on your hotbar just click it and you are teleported to that zone. To get out of the zone you can take the gate that is at each zone or use your homestone. This may not be an all inclusive tutuorial, but it should outline the basic progression path at least for now; I say that because the game is still in beta. From what I understand, this may be the WoM world map of the future. Only time will tell..
Next to dungeons with a solo option you will find a quest giver with the title "Solo/group dungeon switcher". This is the person to talk with to change a dungeon that is normally for groups into a solo dungeon. Once you talk with the quest giver you will get this screen. Simply accept the quest, but do not complete it. The question mark above the quest givers head will be yellow and this is your indicator that the dungeon is now ready for solo play. Once your done with the dungeon then you can complete the quest and it resets it back to a group dungeon. This is repeatable so you can do it as often as you want.
Almost every town you come across will have a mount vendor. These mounts cost Mithril that is purchasable via real money. There are other mounts available in the game that are obtained as drops from bosses, but the vendor mounts will be the first that you come across and are most likely the easiest to obtain. Personally I think everyone should have at least one mount and if you buy one from the vendor then you are also supporting the game. The servers, developers, coders, advertisements, etc..all cost money and it has to come from somewhere, so why not pitch in at some point and buy yourself a nice fast mount. Iv'e checked with others in-game and so far all mounts have the same speed, but the prices, sizes, and graphics vary quite a bit. The largest mounts are the dragons and the smallest are the horses, and rhinos, cockatrices, tigers, wolves, etc.. all fall somewhere in-between.
